The Digilift is renewing industry
Digital technology fundamentally changes our society at a faster rate. Digitization allows us to make new things, and things in new ways.
The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth works for more small and medium-sized enterprises to address digitalization opportunities. Some efforts are directed straight to companies, others improve the long-term business development conditions.
The Digilift stimulates increased digitalisation of businesses, with focus on the industrial sector and service providers closely linked to industry. The Digilift is financed with SEK 78 million over the 2016-2019 period and is part of the Swedish government’s new industrialisation strategy.
Digital technology continues to rapidly change the very core of our society. Digitalisation gives us the opportunity to do new things and work with new methods. It simultaneously challenges established business models and companies that are at risk of losing out if they do not keep up-to-date.
The Digilift provides small and medium-sized companies in the industrial sector with the opportunity to
- learn from each other and gain a better insight into the challenges and possibilities of digitalisation,
- receive advice and coaching to increase their use of digital technology.
As part of the Digilift, over 1,000 small and medium-sized businesses will be invited to participate in Kickstart Digitalisation during 2017-2018. Kickstart Digitalisation provides a simple and effective workshop model to increase the corporate digitalisation tempo. Activities are taking place throughout Sweden with the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries, IF Metall and RISE alongside an array of local and regional partners.
Coaching helps industrial companies seize the possibilities of digitalisation
So far, 10 projects have been elected part of the Digilift that aims to finance coaching efforts for small and medium-sized companies in the industrial sector. Coaching is taking place all over Sweden and is being run by local and regional partners. A total of ten actors have been entrusted with coaching and building networks with approximately 350 industrial sector companies in this first round. A range of other activities are being planned for 2018 and 2019, aiming to increase the pace of digitalisation work in small and medium-sized industrial sector companies.
